Alpha Omega is the oldest international dental organization and was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1907 by a group of dental students originally to fight discrimination in dental schools. Today with our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, AO is primarily an educational and philanthropic organization. There are chapters and members in cities and dental schools in the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Israel, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Alpha Omega represents about 6,000 active dentists worldwide. Alpha Omega is responsible for the formation of both dental schools in Israel: The Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dentistry and the Tel Aviv University School of Dental Medicine.
