Position Summary

The Nutrition Inventory Specialist is responsible for identifying inventory requirements, receives, store and distribute equipment, material and supplies. Through the use of computerized nutrition management software, maintain timely, correct and complete inventory records.

Education/Work Experience:

  • Work requires a high school level of educational development and six months of previous experience.
  • Work requires the analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
  • Work requires the ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information. Work occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors, which involves courtesy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Examines incoming shipments to verify receipt of the correct type and quantity of materials and supplies. Is responsible for distributing the order invoices to appropriate Supervisor or Unit Clerk.
  • Unpacks and stores incoming shipments to ensure product integrity. Responsible for using FIFO as the method of unpacking and storing supplies, ensuring foods are adequately rotated. Responsible for monitoring expiration dates of all products.
  • Fills requisitions completely and accurately. Reports any shortages to Supervisor. Is responsible for distributing all requisition forms to appropriate Supervisor or Unit Clerk.
  • Responsible for assembling and delivering the unit floor stock. Floor stock sheets are obtained and returned to the department Unit Clerk. All substitutions or additions to unit floor stock needs to be recorded. Any needed changes to the unit floor stock sheets should be brought to the attention of the Purchasing Manager and/or the Unit Clerk. Responsible for the inventory and maintaining the unit par levels. Monitoring expirations dates of all products on the unit and products being delivered to the unit.
  • Responsible to help assemble and deliver bulk supply orders to all off-site food delivery sites on the JHBMC campus. This task is done in cooperation with the FSW/Material Handler position. All bulk orders are assembled and delivered—monitoring par levels and expiration dates of products at the off- sites and product being delivered is to be monitored for expiration dates.
  • Assists in collecting inventory data using a handheld PDA. Will be responsible for scanning floor supplies into the Vision system.
  • Lift, push and shoves and hauls heavy stock items using equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks. Transports bulk and floor supplies pushing carts and loading into delivery truck
  • Maintains sanitation standards of the storeroom, walk-ins, loading dock and hallways. Responsible for the milk walk-in located at the loading dock monitoring expiration dates and unit refrigerator.

Salary Range: Minimum 17.37/hour – Maximum 25.85/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
